What is Stump Grinding?

Stump grinding is the safest, most effective and environmentally friendly method for removal of unsightly stumps and roots.

The high speed cutter wheel of a tree stump grinder grinds the stump and roots into small wood chips. Once ground, the hole can be refilled with soil and replaced with grass or plants.

Why Remove Stumps and Roots?

There are several good reasons to have your stumps and roots removed:

  • Unsightly stumps or exposed roots decrease the beauty and value of your property.
  • Exposed stumps and surface roots are a potential safety hazard and can obstruct sidewalks, driveways and foundations.
  • Reduce potential infestations from pests (e.g. termites, ants, bees, bugs and rodents).
  • Prevent further spreading of diseased wood to healthy trees and shrubs.
  • Mowing your lawn will be easier and safe.

Why Choose Stump Grinding?

Is it really worth spending time for results that leave you with damaged power tools and a sore back?

Pulling out a stump using a large backhoe or other digging machine can be risky and costly. One wrong move can cause significant damage to nearby plant and tree root systems, underground utilities or nearby structures (e.g. foundations, retaining walls, sidewalks and driveways).

Once a stump is extracted you will be left with a large hole to fill, extra equipment costs (e.g. backhoe, dump truck), and the trouble of finding a dump facility that will accept a whole stump.

Using chemicals to rot out a stump is extremely hazardous to the environment.
Trying to burn out the stump usually results in a charcoal mess leaving most of the stump intact.
