What is Stump Grinding

Stump grinding is a fast, environmentally friendly, least disruptive and most effective method for removal of tree stumps and roots. Using a high speed cutter wheel with fixed carbide teeth, the stump grinder grinds the stump and roots into small wood chips. Once the stump and roots have been ground, the hole can be refilled with soil and re-established with grass or plants.

Why Remove Stumps and Roots

There are several good reasons to have your stumps and roots removed:

  • Unsightly stumps or exposed roots decrease the beauty and value of your property.
  • Spreading roots can endanger sidewalks, driveways and foundations.
  • Exposed stumps and surface roots are a potential safety hazard.
  • Reduce potential infestations from pests (e.g. termites, ants, bees, bugs, rodents and many more).
  • Prevent further spreading of diseased wood to healthy trees and shrubs.
  • Mowing your lawn will be easier, faster and safer.

Why Choose Stump Grinding

Trying to manually dig a stump out can result in a wasted weekend, a sore back and a damaged chainsaw. Digging or pulling out a stump using larger digging machines (e.g. backhoe) can be risky and may cause significant damage to nearby plant and tree root systems, underground utilities or even nearby structures (e.g. foundations, retaining walls, sidewalks and driveways).

If successful in extracting the entire stump you will be left with a large hole to fill, extra equipment costs (e.g. backhoe, dump truck), and the trouble of finding a dump facility that will accept a whole stump.

Using chemicals to rot out a stump is extremely time consuming and hazardous to the environment.

Trying to burn out the stump usually results in a charcoal mess leaving most of the stump intact.

Stump grinding is the safest, most efficient and effective method for the removal of those unsightly stumps!
